I Will Show Unto You a God of Miracles

Dear Friends and Family:

I have little time to write to you today but I thought I would use it to tell you of some of the recent happenings in Ako.

First of all, transfers are weird again. We:ll find out Wednesday whether or not we:re transferring. Transfers will be on Saturday.

We have one investigator we:ve been working with for a while now. He came to us by way of a miracle (which is the most effective finding method, by the way). He had not been progressing as quickly or as strongly as we wanted him to, however. He struggled with the existence of God (a frequent problem in Japan). One member has been fellowshipping him for us. We had no idea at the time, but one day our fellowshipper took him and began showing him how to look up his family history. Well, the next lesson we had with him went fairly well. Then, almost as an afterthought, he told us of a dream he had, wherein he saw two people, clothed in white, standing in the air. He did not know what this dream meant, but felt that it did have a purpose. The imagery seemed strange to him, but of course it did not seem strange to us. We helped him learn how he could discover the meaning of the dream. He did so. When we met with him again, he told us that he felt his ancestors were trying to tell him something. We helped him understand that if this is true, then God really does live, and his ancestors are happy with the search for truth that he has began. We read with him some passages from Alma 34 and he got really excited. Missionaries recognize that kind of excitement he exhibited as personal revelation. He realized, on an emotional and spiritual level, that the Book of Mormon would help him understand his dream. We testified that it would.

The incident goes to illustrate a point that is important for everyone to remember. As missionaries, our role is to find, invite, and teach people. But it is only though the power of God as manifest to man that the process of conversion to Jesus Christ comes.

That:s not the only miracle that has happened lately, but that:s all I have time for. Never forget that our God is a God of miracles　（Mormon 9:6-22). Have faith in miracles. Have faith that The Lord cares enough about you to intervene in your behalf. Don:t look for excuses to hide weak faith. Just trust The Lord and fear not.
